Alchemy

This is an odd muted purple/brown with a lot of pale gold glitter.

This one is  a little complex and can be easily messed up, but the  resulting purple/brown is very unique and worth trying to make. First, mix a medium purple creme with half red, half blue, or use a neutral purple creme polish.

Add three drops of neon yellow/orange. I used Color Club Explosive. It’s a color I would describe as nuclear pumpkin soup.  I got what looked like a dirty burgundy- but that wasn’t what I wanted.  I added a two drops of white, and the purple really came out when the shade was lightened.  Add the white slowly or you will get brownish lavender.

I added some strange, pale gold glitter that I picked up at an old dusty craft store. Did it fade, or was it just a very pale gold? I don’t know, but this muted glitter gave me the old-world feeling I was looking for. I added glitter to my regular dollar-store clear polish and applied two coats.

Now, normally I wouldn’t call Konad subtle, but isn’t this great? I used the Princess special polish in black gold, which I don’t really like, but it was perfect for this Konad. I wanted a dreamy, old-world manicure for today and I think this fits the bill!

Below is a photo with flash so you can see the Konad better.

About nevertoomuchglitter

Nail artist. Wanderer. I'm a color-holic, in fact, it was my love of color that brought me to the nail art world. Well, that, and the fact I was too cheap to pay crazy Japanese prices for nail polish while living in Tokyo, so I had to start mixing my own. That's how NTMG began.
