Candy Cane Nail Art Tutorial

Well, it’s Dec. 21 here in Asia, and the world hasn’t ended. Phew! To celebrate , here’s a Candy Cane nail art tutorial!

This look is really fun and not too tricky. They key is to have a striping polish with a thin brush, or a cheap, thin brush you don’t mind sacrificing to nail polish or acrylic paint. I use Color Club Art Club Stripers. They’re good quality at a good price, and they have a pretty good variety of colors.

I used two colors of stripers, one in opaque white creme, a
nd one in red glitter. I also used my trusty topcoat, Seche Vite.

Paint the nails red first and let dry. Then, it’s time to get artsy! You can do just a single accent nail as a candy cane with the rest red or white,  or a candy cane pedicure,  or try it with a friend so you can do both hands!

Here are the steps:

This is just a basic tutorial, by changing the width and amount of the stripes, you can get a variety of different looks.

Here’s a couple other versions I’ve done this season as well. Silver microglitter topcoats look surprisingly good too. By varying the width and amount of the stripes, the look is different.

A series of thinner stripes and lots of pearls for some really festive nails!

Here’s Santa, who somehow always sneaks into my suitcase when I visit my folks in the US. He’s an expert traveller by now.

If you give this look a try, send a photo and let us know how it went!

About nevertoomuchglitter

Nail artist. Wanderer. I'm a color-holic, in fact, it was my love of color that brought me to the nail art world. Well, that, and the fact I was too cheap to pay crazy Japanese prices for nail polish while living in Tokyo, so I had to start mixing my own. That's how NTMG began.
