Not Exactly An Ideal Getaway

I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween…here on the East Coast, a lot of it was cancelled due to a freak snowstorm!

I left Hawaii and flew to the East Coast to visit the folks…and flew right into the earliest snowstorm on record since 1850-something. Leaving sunny Honolulu for snowy New England was bad enough…but the worst part is, we have no electricity. It’s been a week. That means no heat,  no showers, no toilet flushing,  no Internet, (I’m pinching public WiFi where I can, but my IPod is running out of power and I have no way to recharge it) and just plain all-around misery. They said it’ll probably be back on Sunday. Maybe. It’s been a week already. Luckily I’ve camped in Alaska and Mongolia, but this whole situation kind of stinks.

Oh, and my parents’ dog nipped at me. I’m the only woman he’s ever tried to bite. Welcome home!

Hope everyone is doing (and smelling!) better than I do right now.  I’ll be back in Tokyo on Nov. 11 and the Etsy shop will be up and running then. Take it easy everyone!

Nail artist. Wanderer. I'm a color-holic, in fact, it was my love of color that brought me to the nail art world. Well, that, and the fact I was too cheap to pay crazy Japanese prices for nail polish while living in Tokyo, so I had to start mixing my own. That's how NTMG began.

Thanks Rebecca! We did get power after 8 days but after my first hot shower, toilet seat, and heat, all was pretty much forgiven. I’m easy like that. 😉

What an awful weather situation to return home to! Thankfully the snow lasted one day in NJ. Lots of places lost electricity in NJ. Glad we didn’t lose it. It’s bad enough when our waterline breaks & we lose that for the day. I guess your parents are prepared for that type of situation? Take care & wear some perfume!

Aw, thanks! Nope, we were without power for 8 days finally, but we got turned back on. Phew! I think they’ll be buying a generator in the future, but this freak storm really caught them off guard. Glad to hear things were better in NJ.
