Hello everyone!
Today is kind of a rainy Saturday- boo! But I’ve got some fun nail ideas to make for later, so at least I don’t have to feel guilty about staying inside and painting.
Today’s mani was made with MAC Young Punk Mineralize eyeshadow from the Halloween collection either last year or a maybe 2 years ago (yikes, time flies!). It’s a black/purple microshimmer mineralized eyeshadow that cost way too much but I was mesmerized by the colors. Unfortunately, when I applied it, it looked like I lost a boxing match and there was purple shimmer everywhere. Some people can do amazing things with eyeshadows, but I’m not one of them. I can never get it to look like the promo photos! So Young Punk has now become a franken-material.
I did a matte version of just Young Punk here a while back. I like matte finish, though the trend seems to have wound down, I still like it and do mattes frequently.
I use an eyeshadow brush to brush some of the shadow into a silicone baking cup, then added a pinch of MAC Reflects Pearl to add some sparkle to it. Finally, I added a little purple flower and some silver dots with my dotting tool.
Sweet and simple!
I’m getting better about being more careful about makeup I buy, especially online, but I’m a sucker for sparkly stuff, as everyone has probably figured out by now! I’m not an eye makeup expert, so I now think twice before I’m entranced by pretty shadows that I will probably never be able to wear well. But most powder eyeshadows can have a new life on your nails- give it a try!
Brilliant!! You are so cleaver, it turned out beautiful! 😀
Thank you, I’m so glad you liked it! 🙂
I am new to your blog but I absolutely love your creations! I have visited some of the archives too and have loved seeing all of the hard work and creativity that you pour into your nails, frankens, and glitters!!!!
Aww, thank you! My postings have been a bit sporadic over the past few months as crazy things were going on, but I hope I have a lot more wacky nail art and frankens to go!
Could you do a tutorial on frankening? I totally suck at it, everything just comes out chunky and horrible. If you have one already, I’d love it if you could reply with a link 🙂
Hi Rebecca,
For starters here, check out my Tutorials Page. https://nevertoomuchglitter.wordpress.com/category/tutorials/ I have a couple posts about how to use pigments and also about some franken basics.
Thanks!!
I do know how you love the sparkles! This is really pretty. I love that shade of purple. I think you have tons of sparkles to ship home!
Oh Lucy, you have no idea..if my packages get stolen on the way, the thief will be faaaabulously glittery! They might even be visible from space with all those sparkles. I’m stuck on whether to ship the goodies by sea, which is very risky for theft but cheap, or by paying big money and using a shipping service, which will insure the items. Those guys will die when they see my polish collection.
