Today’s color was a bit of a challenge. It’s the Marunouchi Line (ma-roo-no-ooh-chee) line, which is slightly warm neutral red. As you may know, red is a primary color, meaning there is no way to mix it from other colors. It’s just a shade off a neutral red, so I’ll add some yellow to it to warm it up a bit- but not so much that it turns orange!
I made by mixing clear polish with MAC Basic Red Pigment, which was rather chalky compared to their other pigments, and three drops of OPI The It Color, a warmish mustard yellow.
This line is confusing and has an odd split in the middle, after which the trains go to different tracks. I don’t use it often, but when I do I have gotten lost. For some reason, the Marunouchi Line has suicide doors that shut so people can’t jump in front of the train, yet the Ginza Line across the platform does not. Marunouchi was also hit pretty hard in the sarin gas attacks, if I remember correctly. I wasn’t in Japan at the time.
Here it is:
Sorry, folks, not much I could do with this one! I do like the color, though the MAC red was a little too chalky.
Wow it’s really amazing of you to get inspiration from colors of the Tokyo trains 🙂 and wonderful job at recreating the colors onto nail polish! The shinjuku line was gorgeous 🙂
Oh I was wondering if you could help me franken OPI’s Jade is the New Black. It’s such a lovely color, but OPI is too costly for me. Franken master, how shall I begin recreating that color? 🙂
Thanks so much!
here is a gorgeous picture of it 🙂

Hi Sophie! I’ll be happy to give it a try when I finish the Tokyo Subway series. It looks to me like a green with a touch of aqua and gray in it. Thanks for the request!
I love all of your Tokyo Metro Collection colors so far. They’re all so great!
Thanks Stephanie! Glad you liked them! I am about halfway through, so stay tuned for the rest! 🙂
