I’ve been trying to make a black jelly glitter for the longest time, never with good results. I don’t think there’s enough reflectivity in the black glitter to get a sparkling look- it’s always dense and clumpy.
Here was my latest attempt:
I made a black base out of 1/3 China Glaze Patent Leather black creme and 2/3 clear polish. I added some black glitter from the craft store, but it’s just not reflective enough. This is sort of like OPI’s Baby It’s Coal Outside, except darker and more opaque. This was two thin coats with a coat of Seche topcoat. I’m going to keep trying, but I think I need to find a different kind of glitter. Or another color. Or something.
While it’s’ a nice shade, it was not what I was hoping for. So…of course I added some decoration: pink flowers and a couple of plastic rhinestones:
My cuticles are pretty dry, but not as much as it appears in the photos. I had some very persistent white polish on before and it went everywhere when I took it off. I actually made an white from pigment that’s opaque in one coat, but it’s from (allegedly for cosmetic use) pigments that I got in Hong Kong. After wearing it a couple hours, I imagined all my nails falling off and was wondering how long it took to die of lead poisoning.
Maybe a different base would work… I could so see a white with black glitter.=]
Nice try, yo me looks very pretty 🙂
I hope you get the right pigments to make that polish. It would be lovely to have a black jelly glitter. I like the manicure, very pretty design.
