Here’s an oldie but a goodie, Essie Ruby Slippers. I know a couple of you gals wanted to see it, so I am happy to oblige. I found this as a dusty in a salon while on summer vacation. I’m not terribly impressed with it- there are other red glitters I like more- but it’s not bad all around. The application was OK, but I probably should have thinned the color. I had some drag on my cuticles due to the large glitter and slightly thickened base. It probably could have used a topcoat but I wanted to mattify it, so I just left it as is.
I got a little crazy with the nail buffer and file last night. I blame Nixxy’s Phalanges of Terror because I was reading that while buffing and I wasn’t paying attention to how exactly how much buffing I was doing! No harm done, but it was more than I’d usually do. I then shortened them up a little after my overly vigorous buffing. My nails are actually rather thick naturally, and start growing crooked if they are not kept in line.
So, without further ado, here she is:

And, since I’ve been mattifying everything in my path lately:
Time to give the thumb some love, since it usually gets left out of the photo!
All in all, not a bad color but not something I’d give my eyeteeth to own.
That’s a very pretty red, but I think I like China Glaze’s Ruby Pumps the best out of the red glitters I’ve seen. I like this matte, I love that you’re showing us different colors with matte top coat!
I agree, I like the CG version too! It’s one of my favorites. I need a bout a gallon of that Essie Matte About You- I’ve been putting it on everything!
It is very pretty, but I think I could do with the China Glaze version and be ok. It’s no St. Martin Mint – that’s for sure, lol!!
Yeah, it’s not bad and I’ll wear it, but I wouldn’t pay ebay prices for it.
Hi! I featured your designs on my blog tomorrowe (8/28) at 9:30am NYC time…Would love if you checked it out…
Thanks! I’ll be sure to stop by then!
This is only the second time I’ve seen Ruby Slippers I just saw it the other day on a blog. I like this but prefer the China Glaze. Looks nice matted.
