Mom’s A Glittertroll Too!

300th Post!

Well,  I think being a glitter junkie might just be hereditary.  I did my mom’s nails and first off, she chose OPI Hollywood Blonde, a dirty light pink with lots of silvered shimmer.  It’s a nice color- an oldie from the Hollywood Collection a couple years back- but not exactly earth-shattering.  She’s not a nail junkie and hardly ever polishes but has very nicely shaped nails. However, she does not have the patience to sit through 3 coats, so I just did one, which left it pretty sheer.

But..she got crazy with the Konad and chose the scorpion and the cobra from plate M28. I gave the cobra a tiny red eye using China Glaze Ruby Pumps and a teeny dotting tool.

Is he up to no good or what?!

Then the scorpion:

I used Konad polish in black and dotted red on his tail with CG Ruby Pumps.

Mom wore that one for a couple of days, then decided to move into the mega-glitter zone with Color Club Magic Attraction, but she wasn’t ready to give up the cobra and scorpion:

Go Mom! She also has orange toes with a cobra, but I didn’t get a photo.

In related Konad news, Kathleen at OC Nail Art is having a special Konad promtion.  To thank everyone for their continued patronage, she is offering a one-time discount of 25%, plus customary FREE SHIPPING (even internationally) on orders over $20 (after the discount is applied). When you check out, use coupon code client1 and you will receive 25% off of your entire order! Be sure to select the appropriate “FREE SHIPPING” choice from the drop down menu under shipping.  There are a couple of new disks – have you seen S09 and M36-1 (reverse image of M36)? The French kits are also new and feature a different disk from the old French kits. She also has the range of Princess Polishes too….. you can’t beat a 25% discount! Please note that the coupon is good for a single use per client only and will expire on August 31, 2009. Kathleen and her daugther Emma have been very busy over the summer and are hoping to make more “how to” videos soon.  Check them out on Youtube by entering OC Nail Art into the search bar. http://store.ocnailart.com

Kathleen always welcomes feedback and photos of your Konad art! I have personally ordered from Kathleen and she is very helpful and sends the goodies out quick!  www.ocnailart.com

I have a few Konads coming up, but I wish they had a fall-themed plate with leaves and acorns on it. There is a Halloween one, but it’s more cartoony than scary.  Then again, if your nails feature tiny meat cleavers or chainsaws, it might be grounds for an involuntary lockup. Hey! I think I just got some Halloween inspiration!

ETA- Here’s a message from OC Nail Art:

I just wanted to let you all know that effective August 11, 2009, OCNAILART will honor all competitor’s coupon codes… if you see a competing Konad e-tailer with a coupon code and you want to use that code – just enter it at checkout and you will receive that discount!!  And as always – shipping is FREE on all orders over $20 (after discounts are applied) – even INTERNATIONALLY.

If it appears that I am not aware of a competitor’s code (ie, it doesn’t work at http://store.ocnailart.com) just shoot me an email and I’ll add it!

You can’t beat the best customer service on the planet, and now you can’t get a better price ANYWHERE.

About nevertoomuchglitter

Nail artist. Wanderer. I'm a color-holic, in fact, it was my love of color that brought me to the nail art world. Well, that, and the fact I was too cheap to pay crazy Japanese prices for nail polish while living in Tokyo, so I had to start mixing my own. That's how NTMG began.

Welcome back! I love all of those little detail embellishments you added to your mom’s mani! Is she trying to set off the whole “don’t mess with me!” vibe?

    • nevertoomuchglitter says:

      Thanks Nivipa!
My mom is way more cobras and scorpions than polite little flowers- as she would say, “no frou-frou stuff.”

I got a set of decent dotting tools in different sizes, and the tiny one is going to get a lot of use, I think.

Congrats on your 300th post! You do an amazing job and I really appreciate all the hard work that you do. Love Mom’s choices of Konad! Is she trying to scare anyone! I hope you had a terrific time on your vacation. Welcome back.

    • nevertoomuchglitter says:

Thanks Lucy- and thanks for stopping by and all of your kind comments!
My mom didn’t want no dainty flowers…definitely not her style. The tiny red eye was her idea if I remember correctly.

  3. Congrats on the big 3-0-0!

GOOOO mom!! That is too funny that she picked out those for her konad! My mom would never put a snake on her nails – she is sooo afraid of them!

Thanks Brooke! Nice to be back. My mom is pretty sassy, so she went with the cobra. I think if she ever saw a real one, she might have a heart attack, though.

  6. Krystal says:

OCNailArt, Konad etailer that offers free international shipping for purchases $20+, is promising to match any competitor coupon: just enter it as a coupon code like you normally would and you’ll get that discount. If it doesn’t work, email Kathleen (kathleen@ocnailart.com) about it and she’ll make it work!

  7. Glockoma says:

Wow, I’m digging the scorpion and cobra on the nails – it’s something you definitely don’t see often enough. I just ordered a few plates and special polishes – it’ll be my first time using nail stamps. Can’t wait!

    • nevertoomuchglitter says:

      Hi Glockoma!
Congrats on joining the somewhat addictive world of nail stamping- come back if you’re having any trouble. It can be a little tricky at first but once you get the hang of it, it’s a blast!
