Crazy Stripes

I’ve been inspired by some of the wacky nail art. Usually, when I get crazy with the nail art,  it’s for a holiday, but sometimes I just like to do something geometric.

I just noticed that this art shared most of its colors with the South African flag (except the brown). I think this one has kind of an earthy, fun vibe.   I painted the nails white with China Glaze Whiteout and then painted the stripes randomly freehand with a small brush. The dots were made with a dotting tool.

Of course I got polish all over my cuticles, but I just took a Q-Tip with polish remover to clean the smudges.  Don’t attempt this design if your cuticles are really dry, because tiny bits of polish will stick to rough cuticles stubbornly, especially red and black. But it’s a fun design and it’s getting a lot of compliments.

About nevertoomuchglitter

Nail artist. Wanderer. I'm a color-holic, in fact, it was my love of color that brought me to the nail art world. Well, that, and the fact I was too cheap to pay crazy Japanese prices for nail polish while living in Tokyo, so I had to start mixing my own. That's how NTMG began.

  1. These colors sort of say Olympics to me. I love your abstract art that you do on your nails, it always looks so lovely

Brooke- actually now that you mention it, Tokyo is bidding for the 2016 Olympics and there’s a huge sign near my place with those Olympic colors on it, just like my nails. I guess it got into my subconscious brain or something!
