Falling Leaves

Today was a perfect fall day in Tokyo: crisp blue sky and brilliant foliage. It feels like September in New England, so it’s kind of weird to see all the Christmas stuff up. The weather says September but Christmas will be here in just a few short weeks.

So here’s my nail art tribute to a perfect fall day:

I used Orly Blue Collar, a sky-blue creme, for the background. The leaves are frankened from Color Club Explosive (neon pumpkin soup orange), creme red, China Glaze Prize Winning Mare, and metallic gold.

I put on the dots with a pointy Q-Tip and painted the leaves with a really small brush. These are painted tips, which is why my nails look so humongous.

This is the thumb. That thing on the left is supposed to be a rake, but it was really hard to get it right. Next to the rake is a pile of leaves. This took a pretty long time, about 30 minutes, which is why I only have one hand done in these photos! I think this would be a fun design for Thanksgiving. After Thanksgiving, I’ll start with the Christmas and holiday designs. Stay tuned!

About nevertoomuchglitter

Nail artist. Wanderer. I'm a color-holic, in fact, it was my love of color that brought me to the nail art world. Well, that, and the fact I was too cheap to pay crazy Japanese prices for nail polish while living in Tokyo, so I had to start mixing my own. That's how NTMG began.

I really like the way the leaf pile came out, and I think the rake looks really cool. Keep up the great work!

Thanks! I guess it looks more like a broom, but I’m glad you like it. 🙂

  3. I love the light blue color that you picked for the background, it really made your nail art pop! Wonderful job again!
