Two Blues

Well, since I’ve got a long weekend, I decided to paint my nails yet again. Since I can’t usually get away with blues/greens for work, I’ve decided to have a blue spree while I have a chance. First up was a sort of tealish color, made of China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise (which, by the way, isn’t turquoise at all, but more of a green) as the base. I added a few drops of China Glaze Calypso (deep blue creme) and a few drops of Orly Blue Collar (turquoise creme).

This was the result: a nice cheery, shimmery robin’s egg blue, thanks to the Turned Up Turquoise, which is a shimmer.

But I wanted something a little darker and more mysterious. So, I added OPI DS Royal, which is an amazing warm purple shimmer. The OPI DS (I think that stands for Designer Series?) are great, but pricey. Some of the colors aren’t that unusual and have been duplicated in cheaper brands, but the DS Royal is unique and has great application.

Here’s the same shade as above but with one coat of OPI DS Royal.

Here’s the side-by-side with a bad picture and even worse polish smudge. The top is the teal, and the bottom is with the DS Royal. To some mere mortals, these may look the same. But true varnish junkies can see the world of difference between these two, even with the awful photo.

About nevertoomuchglitter

Nail artist. Wanderer. I'm a color-holic, in fact, it was my love of color that brought me to the nail art world. Well, that, and the fact I was too cheap to pay crazy Japanese prices for nail polish while living in Tokyo, so I had to start mixing my own. That's how NTMG began.
