Denim Glitter

This color was inspired by a comfy pair of jeans. Today is Sunday and tomorrow is a national holiday, so I can hang out and not do anything involving pantyhose and a suit. That makes me pretty happy.

So here’s today’s color in natural light, direct sunlight and flash : Denim Glitter.

I bought Orly’s Charged Up, thinking it was a creme periwinkle blue. It’s a so-so medium purple. But it’s great for franken-polish! This is Orly Charged Up and Color Club 220 Volt mixed in about half and half, with a couple drops of creme red. (Be careful with the red or you will get violet rather than blue.) Add some creme white drop by drop until you get the color you want. I then added some Color Club silver holo sparkle (OMG) into the mix.

I’m always looking for good blue/purple cremes, but they’re hard to find. Like the bluish color of twilight, or a cornflower or delphinium. Luckily, it’s not so hard to franken a good intense blue-purple. I thought Orly’s Charged Up would fit the bill, but after all, it’s just another purple.

I’ll be doing some intense blue/purples soon, and maybe some iridescent yellows. I’m thinking of themes like  twilight, autumn harvest, first frost and autumn leaves (trees are mostly still green in Tokyo). I’m not quite ready to start in on winter shades. I just can’t face winter yet.

About nevertoomuchglitter

Nail artist. Wanderer. I'm a color-holic, in fact, it was my love of color that brought me to the nail art world. Well, that, and the fact I was too cheap to pay crazy Japanese prices for nail polish while living in Tokyo, so I had to start mixing my own. That's how NTMG began.
