I generally don’t showcase or review a lot of products here on the blog unless I think they’re really special (and cruelty-free!) Since I’m in Asia, many of the products I have access to are a lot different than many of my EU/North American readers. I may start doing some more reviews upon my return to the US- whenever that may be!
But..for today..I have something that looks just plain awesome. These are nail stamping plates from MoYou. Giant, full cover plates with a Japanese theme! For those of you just joining, I lived in Japan on and off for almost a decade- that’s where I discovered the wacky and wonderful world of nail art! Japanese art, textiles and design give me a lot of inspiration in my work. So imagine my delight when I saw these:
You can stamp on any part of the plate to make your own unique nail- you could stamp in the center, on the edge, make a collage-type design by stretching the design across several nails…lots of possibilities here!
I did order some plates in this collection, but haven’t received them yet. I hope they perform well, because they look totally fab and the designs are right up my alley. I’ll be doing a full review once I get my hands on them. If you’re not into the Japanese look, there are many other styles available, like Comic Art, geometrics and some florals as well.
What do you guys think of these? Do you like/hate/love nail stamping? Have you tried it and not had good results, or are you full-fledged addicts? I enjoy it a lot, but it took a good bit of practice before I was really good at it consistently.
My number #1 tip for nail stamping would be to work fast, and I’ve had mixed results with stamping polish brands other than Konad. Most regular polishes, except certain metallics, will not stamp well. A special stamping polish is really a must, especially for beginners. Once you get proficient, you can experiment with different polishes.
