When I’m not mixing up colors, I’m usually painting strange and interesting things on nails. I get a lot of ideas from my surroundings, but sometimes I like to go back in time for some vintage inspiration.
Here’s some nails based on old-fashioned fruit crate labels:
If you want to paint a really complex design onto a nail and you’re not a confident artist, it will take a bit of sketching out first. Sketch the design out first on a larger piece of paper and try to get the details and proportions correct, then once you’re confident with that, try to sketch it out on a nail-sized bit of paper. It may take a few tries!
For a truly bright white against a darker design, you’ll have to do a white underpainting for it to pop. Try adding a little white pigment into white nail polish if you need a more opaque white.
Even if you find it’s too hard to actually paint on the nails, you can still be creative and have fun with nail decals, rhinestones or stamping. The main thing is to have fun and experiment!
Nail art has brought me a lot of creative satisfaction. A lot of artists don’t consider it to be “real” art, but what’s wrong with having nails be your canvas?

Cute!! ^_^
Thanks- I’m so glad you liked it!
These are so awesome! And poo on the pretentious people who think art is only what THEY say it is. Your nails are definitely art in my eyes!
Yeah! Right on!
These are amazing, love seeing this kind of detailed painting from you! <3
