I’m thinking of some ideas for New Year’s nail art, and looking through what’s left of my stash to find the most glittery polishes. New Year’s is more of a family-oriented holiday in Japan, when people head back to their hometowns, rather than a sparkly dance-the-night-away sort of extravaganza. Since I have no family in Japan, I’ll be representing the glittery Western style New Year’s. Silver, gold or champagne (kind of a mix between the two) glitter all come to mind when I think of New Year’s manicures, which kind of got me looking at my stash of TiNS.
TiNS (I don’t know why they write it that way either!) are glitter-bomb polishes made in Japan by Estessimo Takara. Unfortunately, I don’t have any good leads on where they can be purchased outside of Japan, and even domestically, they run around $15/bottle, so if you see them on Ebay for $20, it’s not really that much of a markup, I’m afraid. I’ll keep my eyes out for websites that ship overseas, but nail polish is tricky since it can’t go by air, so most companies just don’t bother.
Anyway, here’s some glitter swatches from my TiNS swatch wheel to get us all feeling sparkly! Some of the names are hilarious, and they tend to put “the” in front of everything, but the colors are knockouts.
So there’s a few of my glitter-bombs. I’m thinking of maybe using ‘The Gear Top Traveller’ for my New Year’s manicure. It’s a Dragon Year according to the Eastern calendar, so that may make a nice base for a green dragon. I’m still working on a couple ideas though! Any colors you guys are partial to?

They look really good!
Thanks for the swatches!
Oh, you’re very welcome! I have some more too, but the light today was not so good for photographing. Stay tuned!
I love blue/green/purples for iridescent dragons
Wow so many unique polishes!
Any glitter lover will lust after TiNS polishes. They’re gorgeous. Any one of them would make a magnificent New Years manicure. Have a very Happy New Year. Can’t wait to see you New Years manicure.
They are glitter-tacular and I’ve really enjoyed them while in Japan, but their price will probably make them unlikely to be a hit overseas. $20 for a non-designer brand would probably be pretty hard to pull off. So I guess I better wear them as much as possible before I leave!
I love The Gear Top Traveller (>.> at the name lol). Can’t wait to see the NYE mani you decide on. Have a Happy New Year!
Yeah, the names crack me up! My personal favorite was a mustard yellow glitter called The Sweet Beast.
