Blue Steel

Here’s an electric blue made from a hideous old eyeshadow.  Unfortunately, you can see the lumps on the surface but it made a better nail polish than eyeshadow.  This was from the Japanese dollar store. I have no idea why I thought I’d wear this on my eyes, but it was such an alluring shade that I bought it. Unfortunately, as my makeup collection is overflowing, I have to say goodbye to some of these wacky impulse purchases.

So if you’ve got any old eyeshadows laying around and you can’t bring yourself to dump them, try mixing them in clear polish and seeing what you get! This eyeshadow was very pigmented, but I was surprised by the glowiness of the reslting polish.

I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine’s Day.  Mine was mellow as usual- I baked bread (OK, OK it was in the breadmaker but still delicious), made some chocolate fondue with mutant strawberries that were bigger than ping-pong balls, and watched Matlock on Youtube.   I don’t know if it’s Yankee thriftiness or agoraphobia, but I hate paying double at really crowded restaurants and watching uncomfortable couples on Valentine’s Day, plus it all seems so commercial. Yay for making cards at home and watching cheesy reruns!

Oh, and I’m going to make a “Matlockian Silver” franken.  I’ve been thinking that the color of his hair/suit would be good for a spring color…

About nevertoomuchglitter

Nail artist. Wanderer. I'm a color-holic, in fact, it was my love of color that brought me to the nail art world. Well, that, and the fact I was too cheap to pay crazy Japanese prices for nail polish while living in Tokyo, so I had to start mixing my own. That's how NTMG began.

These are from my Etsy shop- I accidentally stepped on a bunch that were going to be sold and smooshed them, so I painted them and they’ve found a new life on the blog!

Gorgeous blue! The color looks like the costumes on some figure skaters. I think they were from the Ukraine and the girl had on some blue eyeshadow to match. Not as deep as this. Good idea to use some of the shadows I won’t wear. I’m sure I have plenty. The fondue and strawberries sounds delicious. I love home baked bread. Even if it was in the machine, you still made it! I’m sure everything was delicious as this polish.
